Tim Krul is up for the Cup
Newcastle keeper Tim Krul has revealed he is looking forward to stepping out for the magpies in the FA Cup tomorrow and feels it is a competition NUFC can win.
Toon face Brighton at the AMEX stadium tomorrow for a place in the FA Cup fifth round with the game being live on ESPN in the UK.
Krul is excited by the prospect:
“I think the FA Cup is famous all over the world. I think it’s the best cup out there, especially for the fans.
We’ve sold out the away end again, and that shows you the fans love the FA Cup. We’re definitely going there to win for them.”
But Newcastle have a far from flawless record against lower league opposition and Tim Krul was quick to sound a note of caution:
“It’s a big game for them – for the fans and the club. Newcastle are coming to their stadium, and we have to make sure we’re up for it.”
“They’ll be up for it, and if you take your feet off the gas, you’ll get found out. We just have to believe in ourselves.”
Newcastle go in to this contest off the back of a disappointing 5-2 defeat to Fulham, but Krul insists the players will not dwell on a woeful second half performance at Craven Cottage:
“It’s one of those things – everybody knows that we were really poor in the second half, and we have to get over that. There’s no better way than to go to the next round of the FA Cup.”
